Mayoral Candidates and Other Elected Official Fairmount Line Discussion

On Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Boston Renaissance Charter School located at 1415 Hyde Park Avenue Hyde Park, MA 02136 from 6:30PM-8:00PM will be a community discussion about the Fairmount "Indigo" Line. Mayoral Candidates will be present as well as other elected officials.
This discussion gives people in the community the opportunity to get their voices heard as well as hear the stance on fair fares and better service on the Fairmount "Indigo" Commuter Rail Line. Yard Sales on Rosewood Street Saturday, June 8, 2013!

Hello Mattapan. Please consider joining the Working Advisory Group (WAG) for further discussion on ways to better improve our community. The WAG will be a group of about 8-12 members working together to plan and strategize on different developments in Mattapan.
The group will meet monthly for about 8 months. If you know someone who would be great on this team, nominate them! Or simply pass the information along.  Nominations are due soon so make sure to get yours in!

2013 Summer Internship Opportunities for Men and Women Minorities

Microsoft Internship Program is for current college undergraduate minority students pursuing a degree in computer science or software engineering. Students may apply in their freshman or sophomore year of college.

Women, minorities (African American, American Indian, Hispanic), and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The internship program is 12 weeks during the summer at Microsoft. This opportunity gives students first-hand experience in software development and exposure to the field of computer science, computer engineering, or related technical areas. Work includes hands-on projects as well as group projects. 

Students must be freshman or sophomores in order to apply. They must also have completed an Introduction to Computer Science course or similar class in addition to one semester of calculus by the time the program begins. They must have a passion for a career in technology and an interest in working in the software industry.

Renew Boston Day of Action Saturday, June 1, 2013!

On Saturday, June 1, 2013 Renew Boston will host the Boston 500 Challenge to Save Energy! The goal of the challenge is to get 500 Boston residences to sign up to a no-cost energy assessment. This allows a representative of Renew Boston to come to your house, replace your light bulbs, offer you a free thermostat, and give you advice on how best to save on energy bills.

Fairmount Greenway Meeting TONIGHT Wednesday, May 29, 2013!

Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition (MFFC) and Boston Nature Area Network (BNAN) will be hosting a community meeting tonight Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at ABCD Mattapan Family Service Center located at 535 River Street Mattapan, MA 02126.  


Join us tonight for a presentation and community discussion on design plans for the Fairmount Greenway along Edgewater Drive. A light dinner will be served as well. I hope to see you all there and bring a friend. 

13th Annual Haitian-American Unity Parade Celebrated In Mattapan

On Sunday May 19, 2013 at 12:00PM on Blue Hill Avenue, the Haitian Americans United, Inc. (HAU) held their 13th annual Haitian-American Unity Parade. Residents came out to celebrate their heritage and share it with the rest of the community.
