Teen Center at Mattapan Boys and Girls Club

On Saturday November 22, 2014 the Mayor and many city officials joined the community of Mattapan at 10 Hazelton Street Mattapan, MA 02126 to open the new Teen Center at the Mattapan Boys and Girls Club. The teen center is what the neighborhood needs. Young adults can have an inclusive place to spend their time and get help with homework and participate in extracurricular activities after school and on weekends. The center is there to help celebrate the many talents of young people and is an outlet to help remove kids off the streets.

After the ceremony, I asked four young adults what their thoughts were on the opening of the center. Dyana, Darius, Ashley and Johanna stated that the club will provide them with support from supportive staffs, there will be a decrease in violence, because young people will have a place to spend their time [and with rules].   > Read more
