Mattahunt PUSH Academy summer program is open to youth in 3rd - 7th grades. PUSH Academy offers a safe and enriching learning opportunity - where participants engage in subject based activities in the areas of math, reading-literacy, writing, and science. Youth will also participate in character and social development activities through technology, public speaking, field trips, college/career awareness and sports based development.

Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti as Oney Judge

Oney "Ona" Judge was an enslaved African American servant on George Washington's plantation in Mount Vernon, Virginia. Professional storyteller Gwendolyn Quezaire-Presutti brings Oney to life and explores an alternative experience on the nation’s social, political, and economic development and examines how it contradicts the promise of America.
Ideal for older children though adults.

City of Boston Poet Laureate: Branch Visits

Danielle Legros Georges was appointed Boston’s Poet Laureate in December 2014. This summer she will be holding visiting hours at several Boston Public Library branches. If you are a poet seeking feedback on your creative efforts, please bring your poems and drop by to meet and discuss your work with her.

Danielle Legros Georges teaches at Lesley University in the Creative Arts and Learning Division. She was born in Haiti and grew up in Boston’s Haitian community in Mattapan. She’s the author of a collection of poems entitled Maroon, and her work has also been published in a variety of other publications including Agni, The Boston Globe, Callaloo, Black Renaissance Noire, and The American Poetry Review.
